Go wash your hair!

The phrase Girl, Wash Your Face (which was a book I read years ago) popped into my head this week as I was washing my hair.

I can’t even tell you the last time I washed it…

I’m honestly embarrassed to say. Anyone in my inner circle knows it’s quite the production for me…I have a lot of hair.

But here’s the thing: over the last several days, I’ve felt so crappy. Not because I got the flu (this was before I went down), but because I hadn’t been able to do the things that fill my cup or serve me, even in the simple form of washing my hair.

So I wanted to be your gentle reminder this week (and most days) of what my dear friend Chelsea always reminds me: we have to put on our own oxygen mask first.

Whether that’s self-care in the form of washing your hair or doing something else that fills your cup, we cannot serve the people around us if we’re not doing the things that serve us first.

And I’ll tell y’all, for the first time in a hot minute, I felt more like myself.

More energized. More excited. More ready to tackle the day.

Not because I got more sleep (I didn’t).

Not because my to-do list looks any different (it definitely doesn’t).

But because I did the thing that serves me, so I can serve the people around me.

So let me ask you—if you’re being honest with yourself:
What’s your version of “washing your hair”?

The small thing that makes you feel like you again, but keeps getting pushed aside.

This week, notice where you’re taking the time to put on your own oxygen mask first.

Go wash your hair.

& be nothing but yourself.

Big Hugs & Love,

Cassy
