“Let Them Say ‘Hi’ to Me, Okay?”

“Let them say ‘hi’ to me, okay?”

This is what Hallie says when she wants you to tell someone she said hi.

I've heard it hundreds of times, but it never gets old. Every time she says it, I'm reminded that one day she won't. So I quietly tuck these little moments away.

The other day, Eric was getting ready for a work trip, and Hallie wanted to see pictures of everyone he'd be meeting. She asked their names, studied each face, and repeated everything Eric told her like she was preparing for dinner with the Queen.

Then, after she'd learned all about them, she looked up and said, "Let them say 'hi' to me, okay?"

I stopped what I was doing to write it down.

Her love for people is one of my favorite things about her. Maybe because we share it. But also because, at four years old, she demonstrates a level of intentionality I've seen missing in plenty of adults.

She’s curious, she asks great questions, she remembers names, and pauses to consider things about what she’s learning…

And she wants people to know they matter.

If my four-year-old can be that intentional, can't we?

What have you been wanting to do, thinking about, or putting off?

Maybe it's a conversation.
A coffee with a friend.
A date with your spouse.
A thank-you you've been meaning to send.

Do you have it?

Now here's the better question:  How can you pair it with intentionality this month?

Where can you add thoughtfulness, planning, time blocking, or even boundaries so July doesn't quietly slip away?

Because intentional lives aren't built accidentally.

They're built one intentional move at a time.
