Where are you herding turtles?

Ever felt like you were watching your life happen in slow motion?

Summer is officially here, which means we've entered the season of busy.

Busy swimming. Busy hosting. Busy staying up too late. Busy making memories.

Which means Monday morning showed up with absolutely no regard for any of that.

This morning, I felt like I was herding turtles. I realize that's not a real thing, but that's exactly my point.

I took a quick mom shower (if you know, you know) and emerged to find the mummy version of my baby. Sophie was wrapped in what appeared to be seventeen rolls of toilet paper, grinning like she'd just completed a masterpiece.

Hallie-girl currently operates like a teenager before coffee and requires a solid warm-up period before joining the rest of us in reality.

We get ready. We get out the door. And four trips in and out of the house later, we finally loaded up.

Only to realize we needed gas. Of course we did.

The harder I pushed us along, the slower everything seemed to move.

And somewhere between the gas station and school drop-off, it hit me.

The harder we push, the more resistance we often create.

Not just with toddlers. With life.

The more I rush, the more things seem to slow down.
The more I stress, the less control I actually have.
The more I try to force a fit…in relationships, opportunities, environments, or seasons of life—the more resistance I encounter.

So here's my question for you:

Where are you trying to herd turtles?

Because as ridiculous as that sounds, most of us are doing it somewhere.

We're trying to force timing.
Force outcomes.
Force people.
Force clarity.
Force a season that's simply asking us to slow down.

Today's reminder isn't to push harder.

Maybe it's to stop trying to make turtles sprint.

To stop trying to control things that were never ours to control in the first place.

Timing.
People.
Outcomes.
Turtles.

I'll be over here turtling my way through the rest of the day.

Big hugs & so much love,

Cassy
