The Power in Presence

I was told once that I should really prioritize my parenting over my job, and it made me so upset at the time because what has always been & always will be extremely important to me is creating an environment where, rather than a balance, I have an overlap of two of my greatest loves: 1. What I believe in through my career, and 2. The love we’ve created amongst our family.

My hope is that my girls are always a part of “this” with me so that one day they will feel empowered to chase whatever big dreams they hold within their own hearts.

Today, I got to see the beauty of this hope come to life, or at least a flicker of it, as Hallie girl offered to help me get things ready for the book launch. She walked in and saw me putting together boxes and asked, “Can I help mom?”

As I watched her in her Rapunzel costume, putting Unapologetic bracelets in bags and singing her little songs to herself, I was reminded that there is no separation for me between work and home, passions and parenting, but rather to be an example to chase after your dreams, to work hard, and to show up intentionally.

Because if you do that, you will be unstoppable.

Heck, I’m writing this with Sophie girl (who’s a stage 99 clinger right now) on my hip.

There is power in presence. Just as there is power in diligence.

Whatever dream you have in your heart, chase it down with all you got, and let those little hands help you along the way

& be nothing but yourself.
