Wobbling into the week!

I ended my week with a broken toe. Yep…if you haven’t made it to the chapter yet where I talk about my bad luck & kissing stingrays, just wait. It’s a good one.

But for real, your girl here has some crazy luck. With the “big” stuff, I am so blessed. Truly, extremely fortunate. But for the micro-moments, you can count on me for free entertainment and a good story.

I’ve got more than I could ever share…they’d make a pretty amusing book though.

As we concluded the craziest week of my life, I’m holding my 9-month old and opening a cabinet when my beautiful, white, marble, and arguably bullet-proof charcuterie board falls out landing perfectly on my toe.

I felt that pop and immediately burst into tears.

Have you ever had to maintain your composure while holding a baby?

All I wanted to do was crumble and instead I was holding my not-so-little meatball while internally screaming like Marv on Home Alone.

I know the theatrics were heavily a result of exhaustion because normally I can “tough it out,” but this moment felt like the straw…

Eric gently reminds me that most of my chaos is self-inflicted. Between the book launch, Halloween, Hallie girl’s birthday (and princess party), and daylight savings, I’ll admit to being tired.

I throw daylight savings in there because anyone with young children knows that this was truly invented to torture all of us. Kids don’t sleep the extra hour…so our day started at 4:45am instead of 5:45am.

Humbled. Constantly humbled.

I share this with you because I want you to know I’m a hot mess. I think, to some degree, everyone is. I might’ve launched a book last week, but I’m sitting here covered in baby spit up with unwashed hair wobbling around and I think those stories are just as important to share.

Why? Because how many times do we look at the people around us, in our office, at our kids school, or through the screen and play the comparison game?

We all do it, I’m guilty of it too. But we have to make a conscious effort to Grow Away from Comparison (one of my favorite chapters in Unapologetic). There is so much good happening in YOUR life that you might be missing while you’re caught-up in someone else’s. Everyone is fighting a battle most of us know nothing about. Everyone is dealing with their own version of a broken toe…

So I hope that this message is your God-wink today that even the people who might look like they have it together are wobbling around just like you and I.

We’re all doing our best. Many are functioning and fighting. Others might be trying to find their way.

But know this: you have a community here. You are not alone.

Give it your best. Make a choice to find the blessings that are happening around you. I promise they’re there if you look for them.

And remember that you are not behind, less than, or not enough…You are exactly where you’re supposed to be for a reason. It’s up to you to find it.

& be nothing but yourself.

Big Hugs & Love,

Cassy
