It’s time to turn on Kenny Rogers!

I had a big-ish opportunity put in my path this week, but I said no.

I’ll be honest with y’all, it wasn’t easy and it wasn’t a quick “no” either.

But after a honest conversation with one of my closest friends and trusting my gut instinct, I was reminded that being Unapologetic to both myself and my brand means recognizing knowing when to hold them and when to fold them or something like that. (Thanks Kenny from all of us)

As we were talking through the opportunity, she reminded me of the question we should all be asking ourselves…

“Would you be proud to share that you were a part of ____ publicly?”

She went on to share wise words from her own dad that followed along the lines of saying “yes” to the right things and “no” to the wrong things will lead us to the right opportunities, relationships, and spaces.

Whew…preach…Am I right?

My answer was unsure and that uncertainty was all I really needed to know that if it’s not my best “yes” then it has to be a “no.”

What are you saying “yes” to right now in your life that you know instinctively you should be a “no”?

Where are you continuing to divert your plans, purpose, or dreams because you’re saying “yes” to the wrong things?

It could be a position, task, relationship, promotion, relocation, the list goes on…

But whether it’s a big “no” or a little one, if it’s not aligned with your values, your beliefs, and your mission then it has to be a “no.”

Ashlee-this one’s for you friend. For your friendship and inspiration, now and always, I love you most.

& be nothing but yourself.

Big Hugs & Love,

Cassy
