My book was in the background

Last summer, I was looking for a way to share my writing with my community before the book was released in October. 

I hoped that by sharing my writing, my stories, and pieces of my "why" for Unapologetic, people would be inspired to buy it. Because honestly when you write a book, you have no idea what it will do...if anything at all.

When I launched the book, I didn't have much of a plan to continue the edits. They'd done their job and my stories were in the world for all to read.

But then y'all shared...

You shared what those emails meant, what they inspired, and the moves they facilitated. And I realized that me sharing a couple of stories each week was a lot more than showing you how I write. It became a window into how my work, my mind, and my heart all operate.

Fast forward to this summer, and never in my wildest dreams could I have envisioned what nine months could bring...

Not just a hundred edits, but a community filled with hundreds of beautiful humans striving to live as the best versions of ourselves, not perfectly, but Unapologetically. 

Last week, I took a call with a woman who was in the audience during one of my keynotes earlier this year 

And when her video popped on in my Zoom room I was immediately distracted. 

My book was in her background.

Sitting there, propped up, on its own little table for all to see.

Turns out, her team has created their own internal Unapologetic Women and they've just started the Unapologetic Book Club.

There's been so many moments when it would've been easier to quit...And in full transparency, there's days where it would still be.

But then you see your book in a stranger's background and you're reminded it was never about you.

What I'm building, the moves I'm taking, the sacrifices I'm making, and the discomfort I'm embracing, they're for those moments. The ones that change your life. Fuel your fire. And fill your heart.

For the emails, screenshots, texts, selfies, and beautiful wrists wrapped in "Unapologetic" or "Tribe", thank you. You have to know I save them all.

This movement wouldn't be possible without your belief...here's to the next 100 and a lot more fun because we're less than a year in and just getting started. 

And if you're sitting quietly with a dream on your heart, an idea in your head, or "step" in your feet...let me offer you some unsolicited advice…

You never know what one move could set in motion.

We all have the power, and I hope you'll embrace yours too.
