Is today the day?

Is today the day?!

Every day I drop Hallie girl off at school, she runs into her class shouting, “I wonder if I’m the assistant today!”

The “assistant” is the person who gets to wear the assistant badge, help during the day, and answer the phone (I think?). This explanation did come from a 3-year old. Either way, this “selection” is a big deal..trust me.

The announcement is displayed in the room by way of a visual aid. There’s a picture of the student selected along with the cutest goose, named Gretchen, whose outfits vary, too. Her raincoat is my personal favorite.

It’s clear that there’s a set rotation, but even if Hallie was the assistant the day before, she runs into the building with pure excitement and wonder.

On most days she isn’t the assistant, but that doesn’t matter.

Her eagerness doesn’t waver.

On some days, she’s let down. On other days, she’s excited for a friend.

And then, when she IS the assistant, it’s like Christmas Day and her birthday all wrapped up in one.

But no matter who the assistant is that day, Hallie consistently reminds me that we have to be excited about the little things, the simple things, the “goose” in our day.

She starts every morning looking for it and she celebrates the excitement of even the possibility.

The slight chance that “today is the day.”

As we end the week, I hope that Hallie girl & Gretchen can be your reminder that today could be “that day” for you too.

What’s something to celebrate today?

Where can you find joy in the familiar things? The little things?

Maybe it’s a goose in a rain coat or maybe it’s time doing something you love.

Either way, you can’t find it if you aren’t looking for it.

So be like my Hallie and run full steam ahead for even the possibility that “today’s the day.”

& be nothing but yourself.

Big Hugs & Love,

Cassy
