Give Love First

I’ve been teased for my outward, slightly aggressive, very vocal love for people.

I end Unapologetic with “Big Hugs & Love” because I believe so strongly in the power of love. Not the song. The real thing. The kind described in 1 Corinthians 13:4–8.

Patient. Kind. Not self-seeking. Not easily angered. Keeps no record of wrongs.

And here’s what I know to be true:

If you want to receive love, you have to give love first.

Not the romantic kind. The everyday kind.

Kindness when you could react.
Grace when you could judge.
Thoughtfulness when no one is taking note.
Empathy when it would be easier to turn away.

Not just with your partner.
Not just with your friends.
Not just with your community.

With everyone.

Because love was never meant to be exclusive. It was meant to be inclusive.

We should lead with love. We should Love ’Em Down.

So today, whether you feel surrounded by love or you’re still searching for it, do the one thing we all can: give it.

And I promise you, when you lead with love, it will transform your life.

Big hugs & so much love,

Cassy
